Title of the course: Projective Geometry
Instructor: Prof. David Pierce
Dates: 31 July – 6 August 2017
Abstract: Projective geometry is the study of what remains unchanged when a figure drawn on glass is
replaced with its shadow cast on a wall. This geometry was studied by Pappus of Alexandria, the last
great mathematician of ancient times in the West, and again by Desargues, a seventeenth-century contemporary
and compatriot of Descartes.
